Best voice tools
AI voice tools turn a script into narration. ElevenLabs' newest models ranked first on Artificial Analysis's blind-vote speech leaderboard on October 6, 2026, and its plans start at $6 a month, while Murf is built for directing e-learning voiceovers word by word, from $29 a month. Speechify's reader app reads documents, web pages and books aloud (free, or $29 a month for Premium, for personal use); its separate Speechify Studio sells voiceovers with commercial rights from $100 a year. Fish Audio hosts 2,000,000+ community voices, clones a voice from a 10-second clip and costs $15 a month for up to 200 minutes of speech. WellSaid (formerly WellSaid Labs) sells narration made from licensed recordings of professional voice actors to training and marketing teams, in English only on its self-serve plans, and counts only the minutes you download: $19 a month for 20, or $49 for 180. NaturalReader, like Speechify, is a reader app for documents, PDFs and web pages, free with basic device voices or $13.90 a month for Lite (personal use), and sells a separate AI Voice Generator for commercial voiceovers from $29 a month.

How to choose
- Naturalness: on October 6, 2026 ElevenLabs' Eleven v4 models ranked first and second of 94 on Artificial Analysis's blind-vote leaderboard, and Murf's Falcon 2 ranked 21st. On October 13, 2026 Speechify's API model Simba 3.2 ranked 9th of 96, and on October 14, 2026 Fish Audio's Drama 3 Preview ranked 10th of 97 and its S2.1 Pro 18th.
- Price per minute of speech: about 20 cents on ElevenLabs Starter and about 24 cents on Murf Creator, by our calculation; Speechify Studio Starter works out to about 7 cents, but its pricing page shows only yearly billing ($100 a year for 24 hours of voiceover, about 120 minutes a month). Fish Audio Plus works out to about 7.5 cents ($15 a month for up to 200 minutes on its plan card), though its own pricing page contradicts itself on how many minutes the credits buy. WellSaid works out to about 95 cents a downloaded minute on Starter and about 27 cents on Pro, with unlimited generation before you download.
- Commercial use: neither ElevenLabs' nor Murf's free plan allows it, nor Speechify's free Studio plan, and Murf's free plan cannot download audio; Speechify's reader app, even on Premium, is for personal use only, while its paid Studio plans and its API allow commercial use; Fish Audio's free plan is for personal use only and anything published from it must credit Fish Audio; WellSaid's free plan has no commercial rights; NaturalReader's personal plans are for private listening only, and commercial use needs its separate AI Voice Generator. Refunds: ElevenLabs within 14 days if no credits were used, Murf within 24 hours and before 10 minutes are generated, Speechify only for a yearly plan within 7 days (trial included) and barely used; Fish Audio's help center calls all purchases non-refundable, although its Pro plan card promises a 7-day money-back guarantee; WellSaid's payments are not refundable; NaturalReader refunds personal plans bought on its website within 3 days (monthly) or 7 days (yearly), while its commercial plans are non-refundable except at its own discretion.
- Voice cloning: ElevenLabs from the $6 Starter plan; Murf only as an Enterprise add-on; Speechify on its API's paid plans, from $10 a month; Fish Audio from as little as 10 seconds of audio, with enhanced cloning and Voice Design from Plus at $15 a month.
