Kling vs Veo
Verdict
Pick Kling for camera movement: Curious Refuge's testers preferred Kling 3.0 over Veo 3.1 in four of five camera tests, and Kling plans start at $8.80 a month. Pick Veo 3.1 when dialogue and sound must follow the script, and for a lower price per second: through a Google AI Pro plan, Veo 3.1 Fast works out to about 5 cents a second for 8-second clips against about 16 cents for Kling 3.0 at 1080p with sound, by our calculation. On Artificial Analysis's blind-vote board, Kling 3.0 ranks a little above Veo 3.1.
Based on published plans and other people's hands-on tests, not on a test of our own.
Choose Kling if
- Camera moves matter (pan, tracking, point of view and handheld shots)
- You want multi-shot storyboards in one generation
- You want a cheap standalone plan with commercial use ($8.80 a month)
Choose Veo if
- Dialogue and layered sound must follow your script
- You want the lower price per second (Veo 3.1 Fast on a Google AI plan)
- You are a developer who wants simple per-second API pricing

| What it is | Kling makes short AI video clips with native sound from text prompts or images, with multi-shot storyboards and native 4K on paid plans. Paid plans start at $8.80 a month after a $6.99 first month. | Veo is Google DeepMind's text-to-video model family; Veo 3.1 makes short clips with native audio in Google Flow, the Gemini API and Google Cloud. Google AI plans with Flow credits start at $4.99 a month. |
| Best for | Low-cost clips with native sound and strong camera moves | Reliable clips with dialogue and sound, inside a Google plan or the API |
| Free plan | Free credits on login with an unstated amount, watermarked output, no 1080p, and not for commercial use. | No free API tier. Google Flow gives 50 credits a day, but Google's own help pages disagree on whether you need a paid plan to generate video. |
| Cheapest paid plan | Standard ($8.80 a month) | Google AI Plus ($4.99 a month) |
| Price per unit, calculated | $0.160 per second of Kling 3.0 1080p video with sound (Standard) | $0.062 per second of Veo 3.1 Fast video (Google AI Plus) |
