Kling review: pricing, features and what testers found

Kling makes short AI video clips with native sound from text prompts or images, with multi-shot storyboards and native 4K on paid plans. Paid plans start at $8.80 a month after a $6.99 first month.

Our take

Kling makes 1080p clips with native sound at a low price: about 16 cents a second of Kling 3.0 on Standard by our calculation, and less on bigger plans. Curious Refuge preferred its camera moves to Veo 3.1's in four of five tests, but Cybernews saw water, glass and fabric morph in Kling 3.0 clips. Kling 4.0 launched on October 15, 2026, after these reviews, and Kling's public pages give no per-second credit cost for Kling 4.0 yet, so expect the reviews and these per-second figures to date quickly.

Based on Kling's published plans and the hands-on tests linked below, not on a test of our own.

Good for

  • Short clips with dialogue and sound at a low cost per second
  • Camera-movement shots and multi-shot short scenes

Watch out for

  • The advertised $6.99 is the first month only; Standard then renews at $8.80 (list price $10).
  • Monthly credits last 31 days and are lost when the subscription ends.
  • Free output is watermarked and not for commercial use.
  • Plans changed with the Kling 4.0 launch in October 2026: Ultra ($159.99, 26,000 credits) was replaced by Ultra+ ($544.99, 57,000 credits), and Premier gained 18K, 28K and 38K credit tiers. Kling's public pages give no per-second credit cost for Kling 4.0, so the allowances here count Kling 3.0 seconds.
  • A launch promotion for new subscribers runs until October 29, 2026, 8:00 AM (UTC-7): 35% off the first month of Premier's 18K to 38K tiers and Ultra+ (Ultra+ $402, then $544.99 a month) or 40% off the first yearly payment (Ultra+ $4,457, then $4,902.99 a year), and Kling 4.0 costs 10% fewer credits on Pro and up.

Artificial Analysis Video Arena · October 6, 2026

What they tested: Blind human votes between text-to-video models, read on the day we checked.

  • Kling 3.0 Omni ranked 15th and Kling 3.0 16th on the board with audio.
  • Kling 3.0 is the board's fixed 1000-point reference.

Their score: Elo 1000 to 1015, ranks 14 to 16

Curious Refuge · April 1, 2026

What they tested: Kling 3.0 against Veo 3.1 on five camera-movement prompts from the same starting image.

  • Kling won the pan, tracking, point-of-view and handheld tests; the crane shot was a tie.
  • Kling still struggled with natural hands.
  • Each round used the first generation from each model.

Cybernews · Konstantinas Kofanovas · March 6, 2026

What they tested: Kling over several weeks, including Kling 3.0 clips; its queue and element-editing tests used earlier Kling versions.

  • Water, glass and fabric still morphed, and detail softened late in 15-second clips.
  • On an earlier version, paid fast-track cut the free-queue wait from close to an hour to about 3 minutes.
  • In the element tool (Kling 1.6), swapping one person changed the wrong person.

Their score: 4 out of 5
