Writesonic review: pricing, features and what testers found

Writesonic is an AI search visibility platform: it tracks how ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention your brand, with an AI article writer and site audits built in. Paid plans start at $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly.

Our take

Writesonic now sells AI search tracking first, and its article writer is one feature among several: plans start at $99 a month for 15 AI articles plus daily tracking in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. AlloyPress found the dashboard's prompt and citation data pointed to specific content gaps, and Harshil Barot found the writer sped up outlines and first drafts, though facts and repetitive text still needed editing. Expect rough edges: AlloyPress's article generated only on the third try, and Meikuio's setup kept analyzing the wrong website.

Based on Writesonic's published plans and the hands-on tests linked below, not on a test of our own.

Good for

  • Marketing teams that want to know whether AI assistants recommend them or their competitors
  • Teams that want AI search tracking, SEO audits and AI-written articles in one subscription

Watch out for

  • Writing is a side feature now: the $99 Starter plan includes 15 AI articles a month, and only Growth can buy more (20 for $100 a month).
  • Self-serve plans track three AI platforms in one market; Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok and Google AI Mode need Enterprise.
  • Sentiment analysis starts on Growth, and the full Action Center is Enterprise-only; Growth gets 5 off-page and 5 on-page actions a month.
  • Refunds only within 7 days of your first self-serve purchase; after that, cancelling stops the next renewal with no prorated refund, and yearly plans are paid 12 months upfront.

What hands-on testers found

We have not tested Writesonic ourselves. These are the published tests we found that used it hands-on, newest first; follow the links for the full reviews.

Harshil Barot · Harshil Barot · October 8, 2026

What they tested: Outlines, long-form drafts, rewrites, titles, meta descriptions and FAQs for his own content, with no test dates or plan given; he did not test the AI visibility tools.

  • Outlines and first drafts came quickly and gave a useful structure.
  • Output could sound generic, and long articles repeated ideas and added filler.
  • Facts, statistics and claims still needed checking by hand.

Their score: 4.4/5

AlloyPress · updated September 26, 2026

What they tested: A Growth-plan trial tracking about 180 prompts and competitors for its own site, then articles from the 10-step and instant article writers.

  • Prompt data and citation counts showed specific content gaps, which it found more useful than the headline visibility score.
  • The 10-step article came out well, with relevant images and links, but only on the third attempt; the instant article mode showed a blank screen.
  • A project tracks at most 10 competitors, and only the first article image can be regenerated.

Meikuio · Ryan Kowalski · updated September 26, 2026

What they tested: An afternoon in the product, setting up a test project to reach the content tools; the review's field notes date its testing to May and June 2026.

  • Reaching the article writer means first going through an SEO setup with a site scan and target topics.
  • After he changed the website during setup, it kept showing the first site's analysis and never rescanned.
  • He judged it overkill and overpriced for freelancers who only want to write.

Their score: 3.5 out of 5
