v0 review: pricing, features and what testers found

v0 by Vercel is an AI app builder that turns a chat prompt, screenshot or Figma design into a Next.js web app you can edit as code, sync with GitHub and publish on Vercel. Paid plans start at $30 a user a month (Plus), which includes $30 of usage credits.

Our take

v0 suits developers, designers and teams on Vercel who want a working Next.js web app or front end from a prompt, as real code they can push to GitHub and publish on Vercel; Plus costs $30 a user a month with $30 of credits. TechRadar's Christian Cawley scored it 4 out of 5 after it built his test app exactly to the prompt in 1 minute 44 seconds, though he found publishing messier once GitHub was involved and judged it better for people willing to work in code. HostAdvice's Walter Akolo had a database-backed portal with working sign-up live in about 40 minutes, after cutting a prompt that hit an unannounced length limit and reading raw console logs to fix a bug. The catches are cost and terms: every message is billed by the tokens it uses and refunds are generally refused, Vercel's free Hobby hosting is for personal or non-commercial use only, v0 lists training opt-out by default only from Business ($100 a user) up, and Trustpilot reviewers rate it 1.9 out of 5. This verdict rests on those two published tests, v0's and Vercel's own pages and Trustpilot's reviews.

Based on v0's published plans and the hands-on tests linked below, not on a test of our own.

Good for

  • Developers and designers who want a working Next.js prototype or front end as real code they can edit, push to GitHub and keep building elsewhere
  • Teams already on Vercel, who get previews, environment variables, domains and deployments in the same place
  • Product managers and founders turning an idea, screenshot or Figma file into a clickable app to show users or stakeholders

Watch out for

  • Every message is billed in credits by the tokens it uses, and v0 counts your chat history, source files and Vercel knowledge as input, so messages cost more as a project grows and much more on v0 Max than on v0 Mini. The usage page lists each message's cost after it runs (v0's docs describe no estimate before you send), generation stops when credits run out, and failed attempts cost too: v0's FAQ answers 'why do v0 agents keep failing and consuming my credits?' only by asking for feedback.
  • No refunds: the pricing FAQ says v0 generally does not refund because each model call costs money (contact the team about unusual cases), and Vercel's AI Product Terms make all payments final and credits non-refundable. Cancelling moves you to Free at the end of the billing period.
  • Unused monthly credits roll over for one month by the pricing FAQ and usage guide (the pricing doc says they expire after 65 days); extra credits you buy expire a year after purchase and need an active paid plan to use.
  • Hosting is billed separately: v0 signs you in with your Vercel account, but its plans are not part of Vercel's Hobby, Pro or Enterprise plans, Vercel's terms allow its free Hobby plan only for personal or non-commercial use, and v0's Teams guide says that if you already have a Vercel Hobby team, a new team created for Plus needs Vercel Pro, $20 a month more with no extra v0 features.
  • Your prompts and code can be used for AI training below Business: v0's pricing page lists training opt-out by default only on Business and Enterprise, and its plan table gives Free and Plus no data opt-out. Vercel's March 2026 terms update opts free Hobby accounts in by default, including sharing code and agent chats with AI model providers, with an opt-out under Team Settings, Data Preferences that v0's FAQ says it honors.
  • Older reviews quote a $20 Premium plan and $5 of free credits a month. Premium is being sunset and is closed to new users, so Plus at $30 a user is now the entry plan, and new Free users get $5 of credits once. The pricing page shows no yearly billing, and v0 takes no PayPal and offers no discounts or purchasing-power pricing, apart from a free year of $20 a month in credits for verified students at 15 listed universities.
  • v0 is built around Next.js (its docs say other frameworks give less reliable results), and testers found it suits people who will read code: TechRadar judged it aimed at developers rather than non-coders, and HostAdvice's tester had to read raw console logs to fix a sign-up bug and could not drag elements to move them.

What hands-on testers found

We have not tested v0 ourselves. These are the published tests we found that used it hands-on, newest first; follow the links for the full reviews.

HostAdvice · Walter Akolo · updated September 8, 2026

What they tested: A homeowner service-request portal with sign-up, a request form and a dashboard, started from one detailed prompt, connected to a free Supabase database and published; first published February 9, 2026, and his plan is not stated.

  • His long prompt failed to send with no length warning, and went through only after he cut about 40% of it, including the database schema.
  • v0 then wrote the database migration, Supabase files, sign-up and log-in pages and a landing page from its own task list, filled in the Supabase keys automatically, and had a live app with working sign-up in about 40 minutes.
  • Moving one button took a chat instruction and about 45 seconds, a sign-up bug showed only in raw console logs he had to paste back into the chat, and an 'out of credits' message appeared before his first prompt.

TechRadar · Christian Cawley · July 1, 2026

What they tested: The crypto price calculator prompt TechRadar has used with other no-code tools (a budget converted into Bitcoin in USD, EUR and GBP from a free API, with a dark mode or refresh toggle), then publishing it; his plan is not stated, and the review's pricing section describes Vercel's hosting plans rather than v0's.

  • v0 built the calculator in 1 minute 44 seconds, and it worked exactly to the prompt, without the extra currencies some rival tools added.
  • v0 offered immediate publishing to a Vercel subdomain or a domain you already own, but once he had pushed the project to GitHub the publish option in v0 disappeared; he got v0's chat assistant to publish it instead.
  • He rated the free (Hobby) plan strong and the chat assistant useful for debugging, but found the generated interface harder to edit than Lovable's, and judged v0 better suited to developers willing to work in the code than to people who cannot code.

Their score: 4 out of 5
