Replit review: pricing, features and what testers found

Replit is an AI app builder and cloud coding platform: its Agent builds web and mobile apps from a prompt, and Replit hosts them with a database in the same place. Paid plans start at $20 a month, which includes $20 of usage credits.

Our take

Replit suits people who want to go from a prompt to a hosted app in one place: TechRadar's test produced a working web app within minutes and scored it 3.5 out of 5, and Zapier's Miguel Rebelo calls it the quickest way for non-developers to get from idea to working product. Cost is the catch, because Agent is billed by effort: AllAboutCookies' tester used up Core's whole monthly allowance in one session before the app was finished. TechRadar and AllAboutCookies both found the free plan weak.

Based on Replit's published plans and the hands-on tests linked below, not on a test of our own.

Good for

  • Non-developers turning an idea into a hosted prototype or internal tool
  • Small teams building on one plan with no per-seat fees: up to 5 builders on Core and 15 on Pro

Watch out for

  • Paid Agent work is billed by effort: the longer Agent works on a request, the more credits it uses, and the cost of each checkpoint shows once it is done.
  • The same credits pay for Agent, hosting and databases. Past them, usage is charged pay-as-you-go up to any budget you set, and Core's credits reset each month without rolling over (Pro's roll over for two months).
  • The free Starter plan publishes one app, which carries a Replit badge and goes offline after 30 days; Plan Mode, connectors and the paid Agent modes need Core.
  • Subscription payments are fully refundable only within 30 days and only for the latest charge; usage charges are not refundable, and extra credit packs expire six months after purchase.

What hands-on testers found

We have not tested Replit ourselves. These are the published tests we found that used it hands-on, newest first; follow the links for the full reviews.

TechRadar · Christian Cawley · July 1, 2026

What they tested: The same crypto price calculator prompt TechRadar gives every no-code tool, followed by revisions and publishing.

  • It finished the web app in under 3 minutes, with verbose, developer-style output along the way.
  • Publishing was the slowest of the no-code tools TechRadar tried, because of visible checks including a security scan.
  • The free plan's daily AI credits run out quickly, and free web apps expire after 30 days.

Their score: 3.5 out of 5

AllAboutCookies · Martin Dubovic · updated June 26, 2026

What they tested: A legal case management app for law firms, started on the free plan and continued on Core; last tested June 12, 2026.

  • The free plan built for 21 minutes before an upgrade prompt, then 17 more to finish a first version.
  • On Core, the build used the entire monthly allowance in one session, with an estimated 10 to 15% of the app still to do.
  • Its self-testing caught and fixed coding errors on its own; the tester also overspent by $2 on an action they thought was free.

Their score: 4.9 out of 5 editorial rating

Zapier · Miguel Rebelo · updated May 27, 2026

What they tested: Replit and Cursor used side by side, comparing building, publishing, collaboration and cost.

  • The agent plans and builds the app, then tests it on a virtual computer before handing it over.
  • It can still break one part of the code while fixing another.
  • Hosting has a ceiling: it defaults to common tech stacks, and an uptime guarantee needs the Enterprise plan.
