Magnific (formerly Freepik) review: pricing, features and what testers found
Magnific, called Freepik until April 2026, pairs a stock library of 250M+ photos, vectors, PSDs and templates with an AI suite that generates and edits images, video and audio on dozens of models, its own Magnific One and Mystic beside others' models such as Google's Nano Banana and Veo, Kling and Seedance, on one credit balance, plus the Magnific upscaler and Spaces, a node-based canvas. Premium costs $20 a month ($14.50 billed yearly) for 20,000 credits and all premium stock; unlimited generation on selected models starts with Premium+ at $45.
Our take
Magnific, called Freepik until April 2026, suits designers and marketers who want a big stock library and dozens of image, video and audio models under one subscription: Premium costs $20 a month ($14.50 billed yearly) for 20,000 credits and all premium stock with a commercial licence, and Premium+ at $45 adds unlimited generation on 30+ selected models, such as Nano Banana 2 at 1K. What credits buy depends on the model: by Magnific's own table, Premium's 20,000 monthly credits make 111 Magnific One High 2K images, 266 Nano Banana Pro images or 9 four-second Veo 3.1 4K clips with audio, and Unlimited slows to one generation at a time once an unpublished priority allowance runs out. Testing earlier versions, Tom's Guide's Nigel Powell found the Mystic 2.5 Flexible model beat Leonardo overall in five prompts in March 2025, and Creative Bloq's Ian Evenden, on a Premium+ account Freepik upgraded for the review in April 2025, found image and Veo 2 video generation quick and sometimes remarkable, but text poorly handled and the Mockups and Designer tools unreliable. Neither covers Magnific One, Spaces or the 2026 plans. The 30-day refund is lost after a single download or generation; Trustpilot reviewers rate it 4.0 out of 5 from 3,220 reviews.
Based on Magnific (formerly Freepik)'s published plans and the hands-on tests linked below, not on a test of our own.
Good for
- Designers, marketers and social media teams who use stock photos, vectors and templates and also want AI images, edits and short videos without a second subscription
- Heavy image generation on Premium+ or Pro, where 30+ selected models, such as Nano Banana 2 and Flux.2 Pro at 1K, Seedream, Imagen 4 and Mystic, use no credits
- Teams of 2 to 100 that want repeatable, on-brand workflows: Spaces, Magnific One with a Brand Kit, and Business's shared credit pool, SSO and admin controls
Watch out for
- Credits buy very different amounts by model, and Magnific may change a tool's credit cost at any time without notice (terms dated June 2026). By the pricing table, Premium's 20,000 monthly credits make 111 Magnific One High 2K images (180 credits each), 266 Nano Banana Pro images (75 each) or 9 four-second Veo 3.1 4K clips with audio (2,080 each).
- Unlimited is not unlimited speed: Premium+, Business and Pro get a priority allowance each billing cycle whose size Magnific does not publish, after which generations run one at a time at a speed that varies with demand. It is off by default for new users, covers selected models only (not upscalers, audio tools, custom training, MCP or newly released models), is for one person's own use, and can be paused for account sharing or automation.
- The unlimited list is shorter below Pro: on Premium+ and Business, Nano Banana Pro (1K/2K), Nano Banana 2 at 2K, Flux.2 Flex and Max and GPT Image 1.0 and 1.5 moved from Unlimited to credits, from day one for plans bought since April 21, 2026 and at the next renewal for older ones. Pro Starter ($110) keeps Nano Banana 2 at 2K unlimited, and only Pro ($280) keeps Nano Banana Pro.
- Plan credits do not roll over (except, until the end of the cycle, after an upgrade): monthly plans reset each month, and yearly plans get the whole year's credits up front, more than twelve monthly grants on the individual plans above Premium (Premium+ 600,000 a year against 45,000 a month). Extra credit packs are sold only from Premium+ up, at prices neither the pricing page nor the help center lists; they last 3 years but are forfeited when the subscription ends (the pricing page's FAQ says they are put on hold).
- The 30-day refund applies only if you have not used the service at all: one stock download or one AI generation in the billing period voids it, and annual plans get no partial refunds. Cancelling stops the next charge but refunds nothing, and promo-code discounts apply to the first payment only.
- The free plan is for personal, non-commercial use with attribution, and its AI images are licensed to you only for personal use; paid subscribers own what they generate while subscribed, but Magnific does not promise outputs are exclusive or protected by copyright, and its terms give no indemnity for AI output on individual plans (Business lists basic legal indemnification for AI content).
- Prompts and uploads are hosted by Magnific and used to improve its services, though its terms say it will not train its own models on them; many models come from other companies, whose terms also apply.
- Since the April 2026 rename, Magnific's own pages disagree in places: the plans help article gives paid plans 100 stock downloads a day while the pricing page's FAQ says unlimited, and the credits article gives Business 600,000 credits a seat a year while the pricing page and plans article say 540,000.

- A stock library of 250M+ photos, vectors, PSDs, icons, videos, templates and fonts: every paid plan licenses premium stock for commercial use without attribution, Premium adds the Flaticon Premium subscription by the terms, and Pro adds a merchandise licence to put non-AI premium assets on physical products, up to 100,000 units per asset

What hands-on testers found
We have not tested Magnific (formerly Freepik) ourselves. These are the published tests we found that used it hands-on, newest first; follow the links for the full reviews.
Creative Bloq · Ian Evenden · April 7, 2025
What they tested: A full review of Freepik's AI suite, as Magnific was then called, on an account Freepik upgraded to Premium+ for the review: image generation (Google Imagen 3, Mystic 2.5 and Flux among the engines on offer), reference images, reimagining, prompts written from an image, the editing, relighting and retouching tools, the Mockups and Designer tools, and Google Veo 2 video, then limited to 8-second clips. An older version, before the rename to Magnific and the 2026 plans; it does not cover Magnific One or Spaces. Its links to Freepik carry no affiliate tracking.
- Image and video generation responded quickly, and the interface stayed clean despite the many options, though getting exactly the image you want takes time.
- Images had errors: it could not handle text properly, a prompt for one raised fist gave everyone in the picture clenched fists, and a reimagined games console got meaningless symbols.
- The Mockups and Designer tools did not always work; three attempts to change the photo in a flyer failed, and generated images had to be downloaded and uploaded again to use them there.
- Veo 2 clips could pass for real footage at first glance, though one showed a glitch as the camera panned; he judged Freepik fit for mockups, not production work.
Their score: Setup 4/5, features 4/5, user experience 3/5, video 4/5
Tom's Guide · Nigel Powell · March 21, 2025
What they tested: Five prompts run on Freepik and Leonardo: typography in a scene, a photorealistic concept, an abstract design, a macro nature shot and a fantasy environment, using Freepik's Mystic 2.5 Flexible model. The plan used is not named. An older version of Freepik's models; it does not cover video, Magnific One or Spaces. The article links to Freepik only through Tom's Guide's own pages.
- Mystic 2.5 Flexible rendered a Paris penthouse with the word 'Peace' close to perfectly in a single pass, and a 1920s lighthouse keeper's desk matched the prompt fully.
- Freepik's macro shot disappointed him: the dewdrop was an oversized bubble and the spider's web an afterthought, so Leonardo won that prompt.
- Freepik's model won the test overall, and he also praised the Mockup generator's simple interface and output.
