Captions pricing
Captions's cheapest paid plan is Basic at $9.99 a month billed monthly, or $5.42 a month billed yearly. The free plan: Free to edit with basic tools (trim, transitions, zoom, sounds, voiceover, captions with one template) and 60 to 200 one-time AI credits by the help center (the pricing page's comparison lists none); projects that use AI Edit, caption styles, eye contact or other paid features need a plan to export, and Captions' own pages disagree on whether free exports carry a watermark. On Basic, that works out to $0.050 per credit if you use the whole allowance.

Before you pay
- Plans and prices are spread across pages: the pricing page prices only Max ($24.99) and Frontier ($69.99 to $279.99) and says its prices reflect iOS; Basic ($9.99) is listed in the help center and the US App Store, which also sells Basic weekly at $5.99; Lite ($4.99) is sold only in the separate Captions Lite Android app and does not work on iPhone or the web. Yearly prices are not published except Basic at $64.99 a year in the US App Store, and checkout may show local prices above or below the USD ones.
- Every AI feature spends credits, even on projects you never export: AI Edit 10 to 40 credits a project, Prompt to Video 16 credits per 6 seconds, chat editing 2 credits a message plus 1 per action, and generated clips by model (Veo 3.1 at 64 credits for 4 seconds). The help center's separate Mirage credits page instead charges 8 credits per second of Mirage video, three times as much. Extra credits cannot be bought except on Frontier 4x and legacy Teams and Business plans; otherwise the help center's answer is to upgrade.
- The pricing page and main credits page say unused credits roll over, up to three times the monthly allowance, but the Mirage credits page says they do not; downgrading cuts the balance to the new plan's cap and cancelling forfeits it.
- The free plan's credits are inconsistent too: the help center lists 60 to 200 one-time credits, the pricing page's comparison lists none, and Multilogin's tester saw 50 that still did not unlock an AI actor video.
- The terms make payments non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, and the help center says monthly plans are not refunded (technical problems go to support); App Store and Google Play purchases can be refunded only through Apple or Google. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
- You own your uploads and output, but the terms give Mirage a royalty-free, sublicensable licence to use them to run and improve the service and build new products, which survives termination; the privacy policy says user information trains its AI models and may be shared with third parties to train theirs. Excluding your data from training is listed only for Enterprise.
- The acceptable use policy bars output that contains regulated goods or services, naming alcohol, tobacco, vaping, firearms, gambling, contraceptives and dating services among others, and the Captions on Web terms require you to disclose AI use and advertising where appropriate.
- The Android app is the reduced Captions Lite, the web app's interface is English-only, and features and limits differ between iPhone and the web.
